Energaia Institut secures EUIPO SME Fund co-funding to expand its IP portfolio
Energaia Institut has been awarded co-funding under the EUIPO SME Fund to expand its intellectual property portfolio across patents, trademarks and registered designs. The award covers application and filing fees for the 2025–2026 voucher window and reinforces the IP backbone behind our internal IPVX filing engine.

What the SME Fund covers
The EUIPO SME Fund is a European Commission initiative, implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office, that reimburses a share of the costs small and medium-sized enterprises incur when protecting their intellectual property. For Energaia Institut, the award unlocks co-funding across three IP rights streams:
- Patents — national and European filing and examination fees
- Trade marks — EUIPO and national registration fees
- Registered designs — EUIPO and national filing fees
Why this matters
Intellectual property is the connective tissue of interdisciplinary R&D. The grant allows Energaia Institut to formalise the inventions, marks and designs that emerge from our mechanical engineering, AI and digital-twin programmes — turning research outputs into protected, licensable assets.
The filing effort is coordinated through IPVX, our internal IP workflow engine built with GEMINO AI, which handles prior-art triage, application assembly and SME Fund voucher tracking end-to-end. By coupling the co-funding window with AI-assisted drafting, we reduce wasted filings and raise the grant-capture rate across each IP right type.
What comes next
- File the first cohort of co-funded patent applications before the voucher window closes
- Register trade marks for the Energaia Institut product and platform names
- Register designs covering key mechanical and sensor assemblies
- Report outcomes through the IPVX dashboard to keep an auditable trail for EUIPO
This award sits alongside our broader funding track record — including Forschungszulage approvals and Bavarian and federal innovation programmes — and strengthens the structured IP backbone that underpins every R&D deliverable we produce for clients and consortia.
The SME Fund is implemented by EUIPO with financial support from the European Commission. Energaia Institut is solely responsible for the content of this article, which does not necessarily reflect the official opinion of EUIPO or the European Commission.
